Immediate steps were taken to restore capacity however it was not identified that the code change was causing an ongoing problem until approximately 10pm PDT and test runner capacity gradually diminished over time throughout the day as browser processes ran beyond the 10-minute test run limit due to high resource consumption.

Once the team realized capacity was diminishing again we identified the recent code change as the culprit and immediately rolled back the code.

Service was restore to normal operating capacity around approximately 11pm PDT. However, you may find that some Ghost Inspector emails are being flagged as spam in your mail service at this time. This is due to a decline in our sending reputation which we are working to repair. Our expectation is that our sending reputation will return to normal within 24 hours and our emails will no longer be flagged as spam.

The emailing sending reputation decline and slow downs we experienced resulted from a configuration error in our (completely isolated) test environment that allowed for an EC2 instance to relay public email through SendGrid over port 25 for a short period of time. This allowed spam email to be relayed during that window of time which interrupted delivery of legitimate email and hurt the sending reputation of our SendGrid account. We have confirmed that this relaying of email was not facilitated through an intrusion and did not result in any access to Ghost Inspector data. We are outlining and implementing additional measures to ensure that this type of incident cannot occur again in the future. In rare case, the rollover may introduce different issues into the test. We apologize for the inconvenience there.
If you've been affected and wish to move tests back to PhantomJS, please contact support. However, we strongly suggest either sticking with Chrome or using "Firefox (Legacy)" if you depend on specific legacy features like ":contains()" or network filters. PhantomJS will eventually be phased out so and this change will be required at some point in the future. However, we'll be making official announcements about that and providing a specific timeline so you can still run tests with PhantomJS, if it's your preferred choice.
